Wade to victory

Hartbeespoort mountain biker, Wade Prinsloo (19), a former Hartbeespoort High School pupil, and his teammate Arno du Toit, in the colours of LCB Racing, were victorious in Gauteng’s toughest mountain bike stage race, the annual Bridgestone Route 66 that took place last weekend in the area of Maropeng and the Cradle of Humankind. Wade, who competed in his first ever multiday stage race, was also the youngest rider in the race. Wade and Arno took the lead within the first hour on day one and were never  in sight again, with convincing wins over all three days. Distances varied between 80 km each for the first two days, and a fast 60 km on the last day. The terrain makes for a really tough course as it has a lot of climbing and technical sections for each stage.
