A Schoemansville resident lost R8 000 after he ‘bought’ a generator online from a ‘company’ that seemingly does not exist.
“The resident saw the generator on a website and ordered and paid for it. The company promised to deliver the generator within three days. The generator never arrived and the buyer has not been able to contact the company again,” Said Romano van der Spuy, chairman of the Hartbeespoort community policing forum.
“The CPF and police warn online shoppers once again not to impulsively buy goods on the internet unless they have established that the seller is legitimate and trustworthy. These type of fraud cases are drastically on the increase.”
The police are investigating a fraud case.
