A burglar who is suspected to be involved in a number of burglaries in the Hartbeespoort area was caught by members of the Hartbeespoort police’s crime prevention unit and detective services.
“The police members received information about a suspect selling goods in the Broederstroom area. They responded and traced and arrested the man. Suspected stolen items were found in nearby bushes. Police recovered a refrigerator, television set, computer monitors and electric appliances,” said Romano van der Spuy, chairman of the Hartbeespoort community policing forum.
“The police then followed the suspect’s ‘alibi’ to a house in the area where more suspected stolen items were found.”
The suspect, a Zimbabwean in his 30’s, appeared in court for possession of suspected stolen property.
Members of the community who have been victims of burglaries are requested to come forward to identify their possible belongings.
