Man robbed at gunpoint at bank

A 51-year-old man was overpowered by four armed men at a bank in Brits on Monday morning and robbed of a bag with an undisclosed amount of money.

According to police spokesperson, Maria Nkabinde, the man was about to enter the FNB Bank in the Kremetart Centre in Van Velden Street in Brits when the four armed men grabbed him. A shot was fired but no one was hit. Two more suspects were waiting in two getaway vehicles and after grabbing the bag, the gang of armed robbers fled in a white Polo Vivo and silver-grey Audi. “The suspects allegedly fired one shot, but no one sustained injuries,” Nkabinde said. The suspects are still at large and are regarded as armed and dangerous.

“The community is warned to refrain from approaching the suspects.”
