Anonymous donation helps safeguard HAWS

An anonymous animal lover has ensured that the Hartbeespoort Animal Welfare Society can now safeguard its property by fencing it off.

The anonymous donor deposited a large amount of money into the animal welfare organisation’s bank account to ensure that HAWS continue with the valuable work in the community.

“We noticed the large amount of money deposited into our bank account and thought it was a mistake and that the deposit will be reversed by the bank. When it wasn’t and upon enquiring, we discovered that an unknown person donated the money to HAWS. It is amazing and we cannot thank the person enough. We also want to let him/her know that we are using the money to keep our property, the animals and staff safe. We have needed the fence for a long time but have not been able to do it because of lack of funding,” said HAWS chairperson, Linda Coye-Spencer.

Illegal wood choppers have been operating in the area, and the fence will also ensure that the organisation’s property is not affected.

“This is an awesome gift and we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. It is gifts like these that give us hope to continue with the much needed work we are doing.”

HAWS has had an influx of requests for sterilisations of animals in underprivileged areas and is currently doing all it can to assist. “We are currently busy with two projects in the Hartbeespoort and Brits area where animals urgently need help and we need all the help we can get to ensure that these animals are attended to. We want to thank all our supporters who enable us to look after animals in need in our community.”
