Hartbeespoort a hotspot for car thieves

Hartbeespoort has become the target of car thieves with 39 cars stolen since the beginning of October.

Eight more vehicles were stolen the past week. On Wednesday a light blu Volkswagen Polo was stolen from Village Mall and on Tuesday a white Renalt Stepway from Ou Wapad in Ifafi, and a blue Ford Ranger from a conference centre on the Lanseria Road. Thieves also attempted to steal a car in Schubart Street in Melodie. On Sunday, a white Ford Ranger was stolen from a brewery in Skeerpoort and a blue Nissan bakkie from Sediba Plaza. On Saturday a beige Toyota Etios was stolen in Scott Street. Car thieves stole a maroon Mazda at Village Mall on Friday, and a motorcycle was stolen in Canon Crescent in Ifafi on Thursday.

“The police are busy devising an operational plan to address this serious problem,”” said Romano van der Spuy, spokesperson for the Hartbeespoort community policing forum.
