Backlog in refuse removal due to covid infections

The Madibeng municipality announced on Friday, 8 January, that it has a serious shortage of personnel due to COVID-19 cases in the department.

“The Waste Management Division is experiencing challenges in rendering waste management services as six employees in the unit have tested positive for COVID-19. The division is experiencing a shortage of loaders and street sweepers to perform refuse collection and street cleaning. As a result, refuse has not been collected in some areas. A plan is in place, and the municipality asks for your patience as we do our best to address the backlog with the limited resources,” the municipality said in a notice.
