Goodbye to a great woman

Renowned conservationists from all over South Africa gathered at the Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre on Saturday to celebrate the life of Ann van Dyk, who passed away last week. She was regarded as a pioneer in cheetah conservation in South Africa and internationally. The memorial service was a sharing of fellow conservationists’ memories and work with Ann. On the photo are Prof Emily Lane of the University of Pretoria, Eric van Dyk (Ann’s nephew who now administrates the cheetah centre), Prof Henk Bertschinger, Dr Peter Caldwell and Dr Gerhard Steenkamp who all worked with Ann through the years to save the cheetah from extinction.
