A cash-in-transit van, as well as a vehicle belonging to armed robbers, burst into flames during a heist at Letlhabile near Brits on Monday morning.
According to national police spokesperson Col Brenda Muridili, the Fidelity cash van was approaching a speed hump on the road, when a white Mercedes Benz rammed it from the front. Both vehicles burst into flames/
“An unknown number of suspects armed with rifles started shooting at the cash van and the escort bakkie,” she said. One of the guards was hit in the hand. The robbers bombed the cash van and fled the scene in a getaway vehicle with an undisclosed amount of money.
No arrests have been made yet.
