The man wanted by the police in connection with three bodies found in a shallow grave near Brits, handed himself over to the Brits police on Monday.
“Kishan Kistaven Laskad Pillay (38) appeared in the Brits Magistrate’s Court on the same day on charges of murder and kidnapping and was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on Thursday, 14 October.
The police launched a manhunt for Pillay following the discovery of three bodies in a shallow grave in Sandfontein in the Brits area in April 2021. “According to police spokesperson Adele Myburgh, two Women and a man were kidnapped in Elandspoort, Pretoria on 22 April 2021. They were shot and killed the following day, and their bodies buried in the shallow grave. A passerby discovered the bodies seven days later.
The hunt for Pillay was intensified last week with several newspapers reporting on the police’s search for the suspect. He finally handed himself over on Monday.
He will appear in court on Thursday for formal bail application.
