World-renowned local artist Norman Catherine donated part of the proceeds of an exclusive auctions of his work, to the Hartbeespoort Animal Welfare Society (HAWS).
Catherine’s art collection of 52 digital pieces was sold by Africarare for a whopping R 765 400.
Africarare said the artist chose to donate a portion of the proceeds to HAWS that is in need of support to continue their work. “We are proud to say that we have sold out of the 50 limited edition ‘Eye to Eye’ collection and a portion of the proceeds is going to HAWS just in a time when they need it most! Thanks to everyone who bought and contributed to this initiative,” Africarare said on Twitter.
Linda Spencer-Coye, chairman of HAWS said the organisation is overwhelmed by this unexpected windfall. “A huge thank you to Africarare and artist Norman Catherine for this awesome donation! It is very much needed as our coffers are dangerously low.”
