Speeding and reckless drivers on the Beethoven Road in Hartbeespoort need to watch their steps. The Madibeng traffic department is gearing up for strict law enforcement on this problem road and other roads in the area.

Head of Madibeng Traffic Department, Patrick Moruti, Romano van der Spuy and councillor Claudie Greenwood-Selby

During an on-site meeting with Hartbeespoort community policing forum chairman, Romano van der Spuy, and DA ward councillor, Claudie Greenwood-Selby, the head of Madibeng traffic, Patrick Moruti said strict law enforcement will be implemented.

Moruti spent some time on the road on Friday to assess the problems experienced on this road which has a high accident rate. The biggest problems are speeding and reckless driving, especially endangering motorists lives who wants to enter key points from the road such as the Mountain Cambridge School and business centres. The fourway stop has also been identified as a problem area. Suggestion were made for mini circles at problem areas on this road.

A meeting has been arranged with other stakeholders such as SANRAL on Friday where solutions will be discussed. However, Moruti said in the mean time, the traffic department will enforce stricter measures to address speeding and reckless driving. Motorists can expect regular speed traps on this busy road soon.
