Hartbeespoort’s line dancers have qualified to represent South Africa at the American Dance Awards in Miami in America in July and the troupe is raring to go and bring the medals home.
“We are the only line dancing troupe from South Africa that will be competing in this esteemed competition. Not only would it be a great honour to represent our country as line dancers, but we are looking to bring home a medal as well,” says Mandy Janse van Vuuren, owner, manager and coach of Country Kickin’ Line Dancers.
“As a group of seven, we entered a national competition in 2019 and qualified to participate at the American Dance Awards Nationals in the USA in 2020. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, this did not happen. We have now qualified to represent South Africa as part of the S.A. D.A.N.C.E International Team, to participate at the American Dance Awards (ADA) in Miami, Hollywood, USA in July 2022. Unfortunately two of our dancers will not be able to travel with us but the remaining 5, Mandy Janse van Vuuren, Shani Janse van Vuuren, Lindi Pickard, Liané Moll and Lida Moll will be flying the South African flag in America.”
The troupe now needs to raise funds to help pay for the trip to take part in the competition from 1 to 11 July 2022.
“We need to raise R60 000 per dancer. We are appealing to companies and/or individuals to please help raise the funds by making a contribution towards our expenses or sponsoring one of the items listed here,” Mandy said.
The funds will be used for air fare, transport and accommodation (R37 850 per dancer), USA visas at R2 500 per dancer, dance entry fee – R898 per dancer, affiliation fees – R380 per dancer, and official SA tracksuit top – R580 per dancer, “Our team have given their heart and souls, and have danced the soles off their boots the past two years. As a coach, I couldn’t have asked for a better group of ladies. I am extremely proud of them!” Contact Mandy on 071 191 1519 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
