A large number of runners, walkers and furry friends took part in the first Skemerberg Parkrun in Hartbeespoort last week.
About 250 Parkrun enthusiasts took off at 07.00 and started with a 380 m climb that rewarded them with stunning views over the Hartbeespoort dam and Magaliesberg mountains. The rest of the 5 km route was quite easy, taking them over paved areas, grass and soil through the farmlands. Runners were full of praise for the well-marked scenic route and lovely country atmosphere.
Anton van Zyl, Skemerberg Parkrun event director, said all the Parkrun participants seemed happy with this new Parkrun out in the country. The course begins and ends at the Skemerberg/Kuierkerk venue.
Anton is grateful for the volunteers who assisted and asks anyone who is willing and wants to volunteer at future events, to contact him on 082 571 1721.
