Police warning after job seeker raped

Police have issued an urgent warning to job seekers who advertise their services in newspapers to be extra careful after a woman was raped in Brits.

According to police spokesperson, Maria Nkabinde, a 22-year-old woman advertised in a local newspaper and was contacted by a suspect in Brits with the prospect of employment. She was requested to come to his house in Brits. Upon arrival, she was overpowered and raped

“Job seekers are warned to be vigilant and urged not to meet people who are promising them jobs alone in secluded areas or at their residential places. They should rather meet in public areas where they will be visible to other people.”
