The Harties Refelction Swimming and Lifesaving Club won the junior pool leg of the recent DHL SA National Lifesaving Championships, and the Nippers were second in their age category.

Harties Reflection team was crowned overall champions during the recent SA lifesaving championships

The championships is always a highlight on the Harties Reflections Swimming and Lifesaving Club swimming calendar and this year was no different. Under the management of Marna Pieterse and coached by Lynnette Van Rensburg, the club made history once again at the championship by bringing home 134 medals (54 Gold, 47 Silver and 33 Bronze) for both individual and relay races.

The club was crowned the overall pool champions when all the Masters, Juniors, and Nippers points were combined.

Three of the club’s top swimmers, Antonie Pieterse, Neil Holtzhauzen, and Christiaan Van Eeden dominated not only the pool, but also broke several SA Records. The Victor Ludorum was awarded to; Tshepi Pebane – U11 Boys, Neil Holtzhauzen – U14 Boys, Antonie Pieterse – U16 Boys, with Linique Rowles receiving the Victrix Ludorum award for – U14 Girls.

For a small non-coastal team, the swimmers shocked their coastal counterparts as the announcers were amazed at how well the team was doing despite the fact that we didn’t have a beach. The swimmers made finals in events that are ordinarily dominated by coastal teams. Several of Harties Reflections’ swimmers did so well in the finals that they were placed in the top ten.

A huge thank you to all the Sponsors that came through for the team to make this event possible; Arrie Nel Pharmacy, Solecon Trading, Diesel Electric, Lucy Electric and SML 4 Change. For more information on how to join this winning team contact Lynnette at 082 927 9791 or Marna at 083 556 0429.
