Chantal, who also acted in the film, says, “We are so proud to have won awards in two different categories.

This is a great achievement for this group of women who felt passionately about domestic violence and wanted to promote awareness.”

Inspired by true stories, the short film, Beneath the Surface, revolves around the painful personal journeys of six women who have been affected by domestic violence and dating abuse.

The projects entered into the Los Angeles Indie Short Fest were judged by a random team of invited experts from academia and the film industry in Los Angeles. Award winners can now add their projects to IMDb. Some of the award-winning projects, selected by the programmers of ISF-LA, are publicly screened in Hollywood at the end of each round.
