Brits man shot and killed while transporting workers home

A well-known Brits resident, Oscar Wilson (46) was shot and killed in Oukasie on Friday while he was transporting workers home.


Wilson, who worked for a garden service company in Brits, took two workers of the company with the company bakkie to their homes in Oukasie around 17:30. According to police spokesperson Maria Nkabinde, they were near the graveyard on the outskirts of Oukasie when they were accosted by five men with a firearm. The men surrounded the vehicle and fired several shots, hitting Wilson in the upper body.
Wilson was dragged from the vehicle and the suspects drove away with the bakkie. Nkabinde said the two garden service workers jumped from the bakkie and fled on foot.
Wilson died on the scene. “The bakkie was later found abandoned close to the Wagpos High School. The suspects are still at large,” she said.
