Almost 100 police officers descended on Hartbeespoort on Friday for a big police operation to curb crime in the area.

Police officers from Brits, Hartbeespoort and Rustenburg kicked off the operation at Village Mall. They were supported by the police’s airwing and the mounted unit.

“The purpose of the operation was to curb the high incidence of car theft as well as addressing illegal possession of drugs. High police visibility prevents crime in general and we want to thank Brig. Johan Marx, deputy head of the district cluster and his men for the police deployment in our town. Your efforts are greatly appreciated,” said Romano van der Spuy, chairman of the Hartbeespoort Community Policing Forum.
