Local up for international award

The talented former Hartbeespoort resident, Lucian Barnard, is up for the coveted SAFTA (South African Film & Television) Award for his editing of the acclaimed movie, ‘I am all Girls’ released on Netflix in 2021.

Lucian, son of well-known Hartbeespoort residents, Henning and Thea Holm, also won the award last year for the film, Griekwastad. The film also received an award in the ‘Best Film’ category.

He is currently working on his first Hollywood film that is being shot in Cape Town.

Lucian matriculated at Hartbeespoort High School in 2003 after which he studied film and broadcasting at the Allenby Campus in Centurion. After his studies he worked with well-known South African artists such as Nataniël, Laurika Rauch and Mathys Roets on their DVDs. This followed a stint on the SABC2 series ‘Our House’ which won a SAFTA award for the ‘Best Reality Programme’.

He was chosen as South Africa’s ‘Next Top Editor’ in 2012.
Lucian is currently living in Scarborough with his partner and two furry children.
