Police campaign for endangered wildlife

The Jericho police in conjunction with the Departments of Environmental Affairs, Forestry and Fisheries, Education, the North West Parks Board, Bojanala Fire Department, and local non-profit organisations, teamed up during a campaign to raise awareness of the plight of endangered wildlife species such as the pangolin and rhino.

The awareness campaign commenced with a 16km fun ‘Walk for Change’ to Borakalo National Game Park . “During the event, members of the local communities were informed about the negative impact of poaching on the ecosystem. They were urged to preserve nature by reporting poachers to the police,” police spokesperson, Maria Nkabinde, said.
