“The three children were asleep and woke up from the shots. The robbers allowed me to get them all into one room and then took me through the house to show them where things were,” Mart-Marie told the Kormorant.

She said the robbers spent about an hour in the house, taking what they wanted and then tied her up with cable ties before fleeing.

Mart-Marie crept towards her husband and found the knife he had on him and managed to free herself. She loaded him in her car and raced to the hospital.”

“André is still in ICU but in a stable condition,’ she said.

The Akasia police is investigating the case. The robbers are still at large.

This is the fourth armed robbery in De Wildt in one week. During one of the robberies Carel van der Merwe (48) was shot in the chest last Thursday.
