A total of 27 people were arrested in Hartbeespoort the past week for not adhering to lockdown regulations. They were charged with contravening the Disaster Management Act.
“Twenty-one people were arrested in Rietfontein and six in the Kosmos area for not abiding to the rules of lockdown,” said Romano van der Spuy, chairman of the Hartbeespoort community policing forum.
Police and South African National Defence Force members have been seen in the Hartbeespoort and surrounding areas on a regular basis the past week to enforce the lockdown regulations.
“The CPF advises people to abide by the regulations. The police are acting strictly and if you don’t have a good reason to be walking or driving around, you will be arrested,” he said. “It is in everyone’s interest and for their safety to adhere to regulations to help curb Covid-19.”
