Mother and two children held at gunpoint during armed house robbery

“The mother and two small children had just returned home to their smallholding near the R511/Ifafi crossing around 15:30 and were going to go out again when they were surprised by three armed suspects,” said Romano van der Spuy, spokesperson for the Hartbeespoort Community Policing Forum.
“The mother and children were getting ready to leave when the young boy suddenly said there were strange people in the house. Two men, one with a firearm, and the other with a pick-axe, threatened them and took them to a bedroom where they were ordered to lie on the floor.”
The house was ransacked and the robbers fled by car with a television set, microwave, handbags, jewellery, cellphones and other appliances. A revolver and several rounds of ammunition were also taken.”  Fortunately the victim and her two children were not injured but severely traumatised by the event.”
According to Van der Spuy, security surveillance cameras observed a new Toyota Corolla near the scene at the time of the robbery. The number plate of the vehicle proved to be false. The Hartbeespoort police are following all leads to catch the robbers.
