Massive drug bust in Hartbeespoort

Members of the police’s Crime Prevention Unit conducted a stop and search roadblock in Broederstroom and pulled over a suspicious white bakkie with three men.

“As the police members searched the vehicle, they discovered three boxes full of mandrax tablets. The drugs were packed in 56 packets, each containing about 1 000 tablets. The street value is estimated to be around R4 million,” Brits cluster spokesperson, Warrant Officer Mpeile Talane said.

The three suspects, all South Africa citizens aged 25, 45 and 56, were arrested and the vehicle confiscated. They will appear in the Brits Magistrates’ court.
