Matthew Benson appears in court

Benson briefly appeared in the Brits Magistrates’ court on Friday . He is accused of shooting a man on a farm in the Mooinooi-area in August last year.
Benson has been in custody since he handed himself over to the police on 16 September. His bail application was denied by the Brits Magistrates’ court. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.
Benson is accused of shooting Tebogo Ndlovu (24) while he and two men were trying to steal scrap metal on the Benson farm. Ndlovu disappeared after the shooting. According to his two friends, Ndlovu was allegedly shot in the leg and they had tried to carry him but later left him under a tree as he was too heavy. They ran into the mountains. Ndlovu has not been seen since.
A total reward of R150 000 is offered for finding Ndlovu. Benson’s mother-in-law and friends are offering R50 000 and the police R100 000.
The case starts in the Pretoria High Court on 28 May.
