Four suspects were killed, and three others critically injured in a high-speed chase on the N2 in KwaZulu-Natal and a shoot-out between police, security offers and a gang of robbers allegedly involved in a robbery in Empangeni this morning.

The chase took place on the N2 (southbound), stretching from the Tongaat Toll Plaza up until King Shaka airport off-ramp.

According to Paul Herbst of Medi-Response paramedics, the suspects, travelling in two getaway vehicles, had allegedly been involved in an armed robbery in Empangeni.
