The MEC for the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, Sello Lehari visited taxi ranks in Brits, the provincial traffic offices and the Brits police station on Thursday to monitor compliance with Covid-19 regulations.
During the visit, which follows the distribution of personal protection equipment (PPEs) to taxi operators the past months, the Brits taxi ranks, as well as the provincial traffic offices were disinfected.
Accompanied by Madibeng Community Safety MMC, Mr Marcus Machete, MEC Lehari implored taxi operators to comply with the loading guidelines. “We can beat this disease when we work together. Comply with loading regulations and observe social and physical distancing”, Lehari said.
He committed to a regular disinfection programme for the next five months.
Lehari afterwards visited the Brits Police Station to monitor compliance with Covid-19 regulations by the police and community members.
