Brits has been suffering water shortages the past week due to faulty pumps at the raw water pump station.

“The pumps are part of the upgrade works of the Brits Water Treatment Plant. A contractor was called in to attend to the problem since the project is still under the liability period. However, the contractor could not solve the problem,” said Tumelo Tshabalala, spokesperson for the Madibeng municipality.
According to Tshabalala, engineers from the manufacturer of the pumps are expected to be on site on Thursday to investigate what the problem is.
“The matter has been reported to Magalies Water as the implementing agent of the upgrade at the pump station.”
All areas receiving water from the Brits Water Treatment Plant are affected as the plant can only produce 35 megalitres of water per day instead of the 55 megalitres needed.
