Businesses in Hartbeespoort and surroundings are warned to be on the lookout for thieves who may be hiding in the shop at closing time.

During an incident at the Westpack shop at The Islands Mall this week, a thief entered the shop around 16:00 and hid behind containers until closing time at 18:00.

After the shop was closed, the thief quickly disabled the alarm system and started his looting. He broke open a safe, stole cash and an iPad, as well as items from the shop. The thief only left the shop after 21:00 and fled with his loot with the assistance of an accomplice who had been waiting outside.

He was caught on camera and businesses are requested to be aware of this modus operandi. If anyone recognises the suspect, please contact the Hartbeespoort police.
