The Hartbeespoort community policing forum this week expressed its concern that car theft syndicates might also be targeting Hartbeespoort following the theft of three vehicles at a wedding venue in Broederstroom.
“There are currently syndicates at work in the greater Gauteng and surrounding areas stealing motor vehicles on a large scale. The vehicles stolen are mainly Toyota Hilux and Toyota Fortuner. At a wedding venue on Saturday night three vehicles were stolen, namely a Toyota Hilux, Toyota Fortuner and Volkswagen Polo. We appeal to all venue/ restaurant owners as well as shopping malls to ensure that your clients’ vehicles are safeguarded by appointing reputable security companies to monitor these areas,” CPF chairman Romano van der Spuy said. He said venues where a large number of vehicles are parked, are targeted by car thieves.
