A car thief was caught after a high-speed car chase and shots fired by the thieves. Two suspects unfortunately got away.

Oostermoed Security received information on Tuesday night of a stolen maroon Volkswagen Polo and a white Audi A3 heading in the Skeerpoort area. “We received information that the vehicle had turned off on the Bekker School Road, and we blocked the road at the R563/Bekker road T-junction. Together with Hekpoort Farmers Patrollers (HFP) members, we managed to stop the stolen vehicle and apprehend the suspect. The white Audi A3 took off and proceeded on the R560 towards Skeerpoort direction,” Oostermoed Security said.

The road was blocked off while Oostermoed and Volsec were hot on their trail. The fleeing suspect fired shots at the pursuing vehicles. “The Audi A3 almost rolled and the suspects then fired shots towards the tactical response officers blocking the road. The vehicle managed to pass and took the R513 towards Pretoria. We want to thank Hekpoort and Magaliesburg police, as well as Volsec and the HFP members who assisted.”
