Car thieves are currently very active in the Hartbeespoort area and motorists are advised to be vigilant.

During the past two weeks, eight cars and a motorcycle have been stolen in Hartbeespoort.

“The large number of vehicle thefts is alarming and we urge people to be aware that car thieves are around, and to safeguard their vehicles as best as possible,” said Romano van der Spuy, spokesperson for the Hartbeespoort community policing forum.

The following cars were stolen:
Volkswagen Polo and Honda Ballade at tourism market on R511 Saartjiesnek
Fiat Uno at Caperbush Street in Melodie.
Volkswagen Polo at Harrington Street
Toyota RunX and Fiat Uno at Village Mall
Toyota Hilux at estate in Ifafi
Mercedes Benz at Karel Street in Schoemansville
A Ducati motorcycle was stolen in Rietfontein.
