Volunteers and Pecanwood College joined forces for another major clean-up along the R512 from Arrows Rest to Westlake Estate last weekend.

“The first time we cleaned this section of road in September 2021, we collected 71 garbage bags full of litter. Last weekend we collected 37 bags. Hopefully this number keeps going down,” says Stefanie Ash of the Hartbeespoort Clean-up Initiative.

“The task was made rather difficult by the very long grass all along the roadside and I have no doubt that there will be more litter hiding between the grasses that we weren’t able to reach. We do need some more vests and gloves, should anyone be interested in helping out. We also want to thank Nastassja Kruger at X-Press Recycling & Waste Management who came to collect the bags for sorting.”
