Residents, businesses and stakeholders took part in the dam shore clean-up.
The clean-up was organised by Jo Dreyer as part of the Rotary Club Brits Hartbeespoort, WESSA, Birdlife Harties Clean and Restore project.
“We managed about 100 bags of rubbish and many big pieces of debris that did not fit into bags. Hyamatla cleared so much hyacinth it was incredible. A huge thank you to John Dory’s, Spur, Ifafi Aquatic Club, Blue Planet, Hyamatla, Hartbeespoort High School, Pick n Pay Bela Bela, Plastics SA and WESSA for being part of the clean-up. It was a daunting feat but with the attitude that each person brought with them to the clean-up, we can win the war over the rubbish and the hyacinth at Hartbeespoort Dam,’ Dreyer said.
Another two clean-up projects are planned for 2 and 9 November before the annual big clean-up in December. Please join us, we need manpower before heavy rains are upon us.”
