A couple out to get a takeaway was robbed at gunpoint at a fast food outlet in Brits on Wednesday night.
“The couple was driving out of the drive-through at Nandos in Hendrik Verwoerd Street around 18:00 when a charcoal Mercedes Benz suddenly stopped in front of them. Two men got out of the Mercedes and pointed rifles at the couple,” said police spokesperson, Maria Nkabinde.
The two robbers demanded cash and the wife gave them her handbag. They also took the couples’ cellphones and sped off.
No arrests have been made and the police have warned the community not to approach the suspects if they see them as they are regarded as armed and dangerous.
