As the number of confirmed cases increased by 1 713 since Tuesday a total of 19 682 recoveries have been recorded.

The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in South Africa now stands at 37 525, the Department of Health announced on Wednesday evening.

This is an increase of 1 713 new infections recorded since Tuesday. A total of 19 682 recoveries have been recorded.

The total number of coronavirus-related deaths in the country rose to 792, with 37 more deaths reported on Wednesday.

To date, a total of 785 979 Covid-19 tests have been conducted.

The following confirmed Covid-19 cases have been detected in each province, according to the data released on Wednesday:

– Western Cape: 24 657 cases
– Gauteng: 4 567 cases
– KwaZulu-Natal: 2 707 cases
– Eastern Cape: 4 526 cases
– Limpopo: 200 cases
– Mpumalanga: 137 cases
– North West: 314 cases
– Northern Cape: 93 cases
– Free State: 319 cases
– Unallocated: 5 cases
