Covid-19: 6 580 new cases reported in SA bringing the total to 118 375

The number of Covid-19 recoveries in South Africa now stands at 59 974 translating to a recovery rate of 50,7%.

As of yesterday, 25 June, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in South Africa is at 118 375 with 6 580 new cases identified.

The case data per province is as follows:

Eastern Cape:

  • 20 487 confirmed cases
  • 17,3% of the country total
  • 363 deaths
  • 10 439 recoveries

Free State:

  • 976 confirmed cases
  • 0.8% of the country total
  • 9 deaths
  • 318 recoveries

Gauteng:

  • 28,746 confirmed cases
  • 24,3% of the country total
  • 149 deaths
  • 5 856 recoveries

KwaZulu-Natal:

  • 6 590 confirmed cases
  • 5,6% of the country total
  • 106 deaths
  • 2 947 recoveries

Limpopo:

  • 730 confirmed cases
  • 0,6% of the country total
  • 5 deaths
  • 329 recoveries

Mpumalanga:

  • 783 confirmed cases
  • 0,7% of the country total
  • 2 deaths
  • 207 recoveries

North West:

  • 2 965 confirmed cases
  • 2,5% of the country total
  • 5 death
  • 291 recoveries

Northern Cape:

  • 318 confirmed cases
  • 0.3% of the country total
  • 1 death
  • 112 recoveries

Western Cape:

  • 56 780 confirmed cases
  • 48% of the country total
  • 1 652 deaths
  • 39 475 recoveries

Unallocated cases:

  • 0 confirmed cases
  • 0.0% of the country total

A total number of 1 460 012 Covid-19 tests have been processed of which 43 118 tests have been conducted since the last report.

The Department of Health reports 87 more Covid-19 related deaths:

  • 17 in Eastern Cape
  • 53 in Western Cape
  • 2 in Gauteng
  • 15 Kwazulu-Natal

This brings the total number of Covid-19 related deaths in South Africa to 2 292.

The current mortality rate is at 1.9%.

The Department of Health extends its condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased.
