Two additional deaths due to Covid-19 have been confirmed.

Following, the National Command Council Meeting today, President Cyril Ramaphosa has mandated the Minister of Health, Dr Zweli Mkhize to hold a live Zoom public engagement to deal with technical aspects related to the country’s Covid-19 response.

This meeting is currently in session and is being attended by various Covid-19 experts.

The Minister of Health has announced that the current number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in South Africa has risen to 2,272.

This is an increase of 99 from previously-reported cases. He further stated that 83,663 tests have been conducted and of these, 21,190 are from the public sector.

Dr Mkhize further stated that he is saddened to announce the two additional deaths due to Covid-19.

This brings the total number of Covid-19 related deaths in South Africa to 27.
