The number of active cases nationwide is 50 779 with 634 543 recoveries.

South Africa’s Covid-19 statistics, dated October 18 and released by the Department of Health, shows a 90 per cent recovery rate.
A further 63 Covid-19 related deaths were reported bringing the total number of deaths to 18 471.
An additional 21 337 tests were conducted bringing the total number of tests to 4 549 478. 1 662 new cases were reported bringing the cumulative total to 703 793.
Gauteng remains the hot spot with 32 per cent of cases.
The province has 16 473 active cases followed by Free State with 15 424 active cases.
