Brits Mediclinic has confirmed that two staff members and one doctor have tested positive for Covid-19 at the hospital.

“The individuals in question are currently in self-isolation and will only return to work once cleared to do so,” Tertia Kruger, spokesperson for Mediclinic Southern Africa said.

Kruger said the hospital currently has 23 Covid-19 patients at the hospital, of which five are in the high care unit.

All contacts are being followed up, monitored and isolation protocols stringently applied where relevant.”

Kruger said that since the declaration of the Covid-19 pandemic, Mediclinic has introduce stringent measures to reduce the risk of Covid-19 transmission in Mediclinic hospitals.

“We continue to urge the public to take the necessary precautions by practicing good hand hygiene, social distancing, as well as adhering to lockdown regulations. We also encourage anyone experiencing signs and symptoms of the disease, such as shortness of breath, fever, sore throat, coughing, or those who believe that they may have been exposed to the virus, to contact their healthcare provider.”
