The body of a missing fisherman was retrieved by police divers from the Hartbeespoort Dam on Tuesday.

Police divers were assisted by the NSRI Hartbeespoort.

According to police spokesperson Constable Ben Moabi, the fisherman was reported missing last Thursday. He was allegedly setting fishing nets and disappeared beneath the water.
A search and rescue operation by police divers and the Hartbeespoort NSRI ensued. The search continued until Tuesday, when police divers finally found and retrieved the body.
“An inquest case was registered with Hartbeespoort police,” Moabi said.
Arthur Crew of the NSRI Hartbeespoort commended the police divers who searched for the missing man over the five days. “We appreciate their dedication, and they are always there for the community in time of need. They have such difficult jobs but are amazing,” Crew said.
