A search and rescue team managed to pull a 52-year-old man to safety at Salt Rock beach.
Rescuers yesterday morning saved the life of a holidaymaker who nearly drowned while swimming at Salt Rock beach in KwaZulu-Natal.
Emergency responders said the 52-year-old Gauteng man began experiencing difficulty in the water, but an IPSS Medical Rescue response team happened to be at the beach and spotted the bather in distress.
They went to his rescue and managed to return him to the beach.
“He was stabilised and taken to a nearby medical facility for further treatment,” IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson, Dylan Meyrick, said.
