Hartbeespoort and Brits have seen a spike in Covid-19 cases over the past week with 415 active cases reported by the North West Department of Health on Tuesday night.

In Hartbeespoort, more than 40 people have tested positive for Covid-19 this week and one person has reportedly died from Covid-19 complications.
President Cyril Ramaphosa declared the Bojanala district in North West, which includes Madibeng, as a Covid-19 hotspot on Monday.
North West health MEC, Madoda Sambatha visited the Bojanala district on Wednesday to alert residents of the spike in cases and to look at Covid-19 compliance in the district.
“It is now compulsory to wear a mask in a public space. Anyone who does not wear a mask is committing an offence and can be arrested. Offenders can face up to six months in prison or a fine, or both,” the department said
