Local racing enthusiasts have something to celebrate as the Boaters World Adventures Racing Team made a powerful impact at the final round of the F1 Powerboat Racing season last weekend.
The father-son duo, Michael and Nico Wessels, representing Hartbeespoort’s own Boaters World Adventures, delivered a thrilling performance on the water. Michael Wessels clinched first place in all three heats on the day, with his father Nico Wessels, taking second place, securing a commanding double podium finish for the team.
Their consistent performance throughout the season paid off. With this final push, Michael Wessels secured 2nd place overall in the National Championship standings, a significant achievement in one of South Africa’s most competitive powerboat racing classes.
“We’ve worked tirelessly all season, and to finish the year like this, side by side with my son, is an incredible feeling,” said Nico. “It’s a proud moment for our family and our hometown.”
With the 2025 season now concluded, fans and locals alike can look forward to what this dynamic team will bring to the next championship season.
