The North West Health Department announced on Saturday, 2 May, that three more cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in Hartbeespoort, and two more in the Brits area. Hartbeespoort now has seven cases, and the Brits area six.


Of the six cases in the Brits area, two are in Brits town, two in Kgabalatsane Village and two in Mooinooi.

Madibeng now has 13 cases, more than a third of confirmed Covid-19 cases in North West. Rustenburg also has 13 cases.

“The total number of identified primary contacts of Covid-19 confirmed cases in the province is 583, of which 557 have been successfully traced. The response team in the province is still looking for the remaining 34 contacts,” said Tebogo Lekgethwane, spokesperson for the department.

Four Covid-19 patients are in hospital in the North West province.
