The Hawks arrested a 41-year-old man on Tuesday for an armed robbery at a fuel station in Hartbeespoort in 2019.
This is the fourth suspect to be apprehended by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit for the robbery at the Total fuel station on 27 July 2019 when armed robbers stormed two security guards busy collecting money.
“The security guards were ambushed at gunpoint and robbed of the money bag containing an undisclosed amount of money. The group of robbers then allegedly drove off in a Nissan double cab,” said Hawks spokesperson, Captain Tlangelani Rikhotso.
“Investigations led to the arrest of three suspects, Jan Matshia (54), Elias Mosekwa (53) and Bennett Padi (34) between September 2019 and January this year. The trio made numerous appearances in the Brits Magistrates’ Court and they remain in custody. The fourth suspect is expected to appear before the same court on Thursday, 16 April.”
