The Hartbeespoort police members involved in the successful arrest of four hijackers.

Hartbeespoort police members caught and arrested four hijackers after a high speed chase to Broederstroom on Monday.

“A man was hijacked near Hernic mine on the R511 on Monday morning after he gave two people a lift. They were followed by a blue Toyota Corolla. The man was overpowered and then pushed into the Toyota Corolla and the hijackers sped away with him,” said Romano van der Spuy, chairman of the Hartbeespoort community policing forum.

Members of the Hartbeespoort police’s crime prevention unit received information about the vehicles’ location and the police spotted them at Damdoryn. A high speed chase followed and three police vehicles managed to block the two vehicles near Pecanwood.

“The four hijackers were arrested and the victim was secured. He was unharmed.”

The police request that people who might have been victims of robberies which involved the blue Toyota Corolla, contact the Hartbeespoort police station.
