Hartbeespoort ultramarathon athlete Joanne Kontaxopoulos-Rabe ran her 20th Comrades this year to raise funds for Hartbeespoort’s feral cats.
Joanne, founder of Harties Feral Cat Rescue, raised almost R20 000 during her race and the funds will be used to sterilise approximately 56 feral cats around Hartbeespoort.
“I celebrated my 20th Comrades marathon by raising funds and awareness for my passion – feral cats!” she says. “The fact that I was doing this for the ferals motivated me to finish before the cut-off time,” she laughs.
The mass sterilisation will be held soon.
