A man was shot dead in front of the Madibeng municipal offices on Thursday morning after he allegedly threatened members of the public and the police with a knife.

According to unconfirmed information from members of the public on the scene, the man was wielding a knife around 09:00 close to the municipal building, threatening the public. The police were called and the man allegedly attacked police officers. “The police warned the man, but he attacked them and a shot was fired in self-defence. The man was shot dead,” a witness told Kormorant.
